Brittney Washington was named director of basketball operations for Furman’s women’s basketball program, head coach Jackie Carson announced on Aug. 31.
“I have known Brittney since her days as a local high school student-athlete,” said Carson in making the announcement. “She is an amazing woman with a bright future in college athletics, is a tireless, trustworthy worker, and can relate to our players. She also understands the grind that comes with this position. We are very please she is a member of our Furman family.”
A Simpsonville, S.C., product and graduate at Hillcrest High School, she played collegiately at Pfeiffer University, where she led the Falcons in three-point percentage as a junior and served as team captain over her final two seasons. She was accorded Pfeiffer’s Scholar Athlete and Student Leadership Service Awards in 2015 prior to graduating with a degree in sport management.
Following graduation she accepted an internship with Pfeiffer’s women’s basketball program, managing study hall hours and uploading game film to Game Tape Xchange. She also interned at Gray Stone Day School, assisting with game day operations.
Washington served as an assistant coach with the Legacy Elite and Carolina Shock Girls AAU basketball teams in the spring of 2015.
She accepted a graduate assistant coaching position at Lynn University in August of 2015 and was on staff for two seasons. While there she handled many duties, including coordinating campus recruiting visits and evaluations, administering team study halls and academic initiatives, and preparing scouting reports used for practice and game-day planning.
She earned her Master’s of Business Administration degree in sports administration and management from Lynn this past May.
