Klecker Qualifies For USA Junior Nationals To Lead Paladins At Clemson Qualifier

CLEMSON, S.C. -- Furman freshman Jack Klecker placed ninth with a personal-best time of 3:55.26 in the 1,500m to qualify for the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships and lead the Paladin track and field team at the Clemson Qualifier meet this weekend in Clemson, S.C.  The USA Junior Nationals meet, which showcases that nation's top athletes aged 19 and under, will be held June 23-25 in Eugene, Ore.  

Sophomore Wilkerson Given and freshman James Perez also competed in the 1500m at the Clemson meet, with Given placing seventh after posting a time of 3:54.61, and Perez finishing tenth with a personal-record time of 3:56.92.  Junior Lee Gilmer recorded a personal-best time of 1:51.21 for eighth place in the 800m, and sophomore Scott Des Marais finished ninth in the discus event with a mark of 41.88 (137-05).  Freshman Zach Duskin placed 15th in the 400m with a personal-best time of 49.91.

For the Furman women's team, junior Erin Barker placed fifth in the 1,500m with a personal-best time of 4:35.09, while senior Monique Ositelu took sixth place with a time of 2:13.58 in the 800m.
