Furman Opens Indoor Track & Field Season Saturday At Wake Forest
GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman track and field teams will open the 2012 indoor season Saturday at the Wake Forest Invitational at the JDL Indoor Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Sophomores Blair Burke, Danielle Ebzery, and Sinead Haughey return after representing the Paladin women's team on the 2012 Southern Conference Indoor Track & Field All-Freshman team. Burke placed 17th in the 3,000m with a time of 10:47.21, while Ebzery finished 12th in the triple jump after posting a mark of 10.51 at the league meet. Sinead Haughey turned in a time of 17:26.64, good for ninth place in the 5,000m. Furman finished eighth in the team scoring at the meet.
The Furman men also return a trio of sophomores that were named to the SoCon All-Freshman team during the 2012 indoor season. Carson Priest placed 18th with a time of 24.26 in the 200m at the league meet, while William Ivey placed fourth in the 800m with a time of 1:54.77. Tripp Hurt took fifth place in the mile after posting a time of 4:13.96 to secure a spot on the team.
The Paladin DMR relay team of Hurt, Raul Rodriquez, James Perez, and Lee Gilmer finished third with a time of 10:01.35, helping the Furman team to a seventh place finish in the conference meet in 2012.
