MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. -- The Furman women's cross country team placed 12th and the men captured 14th place against highly-ranked national competition at the Roy Griak Invitational Saturday in Minneapolis, Minn.
Freshman Savannah Carnahan led the Paladin women, placing 27th with a time of 22:25 on the 6K course. Rookie Emma Grace Hurley was 38th at 22:54, while fellow freshman Gabrielle Jennings finished 73rd with a time of 23:09. Freshman Grace Dwyer recorded a time of 23:22 to place 91st, and rookie Riley Burr crossed the line in 23:58 for 140th place to complete the Paladin scorers. Freshman Jennifer Stephenson posted a time of 24:35 for 186th place, and junior Becca Cooley was 203rd at 24:57.
The Paladin men, who are ranked 22nd nationally and fourth in the Southeast Region, were led by junior Frank Lara, who turned in a time of 25:48 for 32nd place. Senior Josh Brickell finished 47th at 25:57, while sophomore Ryan Adams placed 74th with a time of 26:18. Freshman Jake Ogden completed the race in 26:47 to place 107th, and rookie Mason Coppi posted a time of 26:59 for 121st place to finish the slate of Paladin scorers. Senior Matt Lange placed 125th at 27:00, and rookie Thomas Moore recorded a time of 27:40 to finish 162nd.
The Paladins will compete at the Gene Mullin Invitational on October 8.
