  • Furman's Buchalski Nets Record Sixth SoCon Outdoor Track Athlete Of The Week Award

    Furman’s Allie Buchalski netted a record sixth Southern Conference women’s outdoor track athlete of the week award, the conference office announced Wednesday.  Selections were made by panels of the league’s track and field coaches and included all competition from April 18-24.

    Senior Allie Buchalski won the women’s 5,000m with a time of 15:39.17 to lead the Furman track and field teams Saturday at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Va.

    Sophomore Emma Grace Hurley placed fifth in the 3,000m Steeplechase to lead the Paladin track and field teams Friday at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Va.

    The Furman outdoor track and field team competed at both the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C., and the Terrier Relays in Spartanburg, S.C., on Saturday, with eight individuals and two relay teams recording top-20 finishes.

    Sophomore Emma Grace Hurley established a new Paladin record in the women’s 3,000m Steeplechase, and senior Allie Buchalski set a new Furman record in the women’s 1,500m to lead the Paladin track and field teams in the 2018 outdoor season opener Friday at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C.

    The Furman track and field teams will open the 2018 outdoor season Friday at the Raleigh Relays on the campus of N.C. State in Raleigh, N.C. and will also compete at the Terrier Relays, which will be hosted by Wofford at Spartanburg High on Saturday.

    Football All-American Matthew Schmidt and softball standout Lindsey Bert were recognized as 2017-18 Furman Male Athlete of the Year and Edna Hartness Female Athlete of the Year, respectively, at Furman’s “ESPY” style awards banquet Monday evening at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Greenville.

    Furman’s Kristlin Gear was honored as the Southern Conference Indoor Track Female Freshman of the Year, which was based on her performance at last weekend’s league championships, the SoCon office announced Wednesday.  Selections were made by the league’s coaches, and coaches were not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes.

    Furman women’s indoor track and field athlete Savannah Carnahan has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held Feb. 21-27, the league office announced Wednesday.

    The Paladins women set a program record with 107 points, and Furman won five events Sunday in the final day of competition at the 2018 Southern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship, which is being held this weekend at the Corps Physical Training Facility in Lexington, Va.

    Furman won three events, the women’s distance medley relay, plus the men’s and women’s 3,000m, Saturday in the opening day of competition at the 2018 Southern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship, which is being held this weekend at the Corps Physical Training Facility in Lexington, Va.

    The Furman indoor track and field teams will compete at the 2018 Southern Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships this Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 24-25) at the Corps Physical Training Facility in Lexington, Va.  The meet marks the 83rd annual Indoor Track & Field Championship for the men and the 31st for the women.

  • Gear Sets Furman Indoor Track Mile Record To Lead Paladins Saturday

    Furman freshman Kristlin Gear established a new program record in the mile Saturday, as select members of the Paladin indoor track and field teams competed at the UCS Invitational at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C., and the Alex Wilson Invitational at the Loftus Sports Center on the campus of Notre Dame.  All seven Paladin competitors established personal bests during Saturday’s competition.

    Six Paladin athletes garnered individual All-Academic honors, while the Paladin women’s and men’s cross country programs earned 2017 Division I All-Academic Team status as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
