GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman's Quintin McKinnish and Emily Lane have been named Southern Conference men's and women's runner of the week, respectively, for competition that took place Oct. 6-8, as announced by the league office on Wednesday. The award is the first of the year for both Paladins.
McKinnish, a senior from Morristown, Tenn.,, placed fifth at the Gene Mullin Invitational held at Furman last Saturday. His time of 16:01.72 on the 5K course paced the Paladins, who took second place only to Georgia at the meet. Saturday's performance was McKinnish's second top-10 finish of the season, as he finished 10th at the Eye Opener to start the season.
Lane, a freshman from Cary, N.C., led the Paladins with a time of 18:46.65 on the 5K course, taking third place on Saturday at the Gene Mullin Invitational. The meet was Lane's third of the year and her second top-15 finish, as she claimed 12th place at the Furman Cross Country Classic then competed at the Louisville Invitational. The Paladins have finished among the top five in all three races in which Lane has competed this season.
Furman will compete at the Adidas Wisconsin Invitational in Madison, Wis., and at the HPU Vert Invitational in High Point, N.C., on October 13.
