GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman men's cross country team is ranked seventh by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), while the Paladin women are ranked 11th, according to the national rankings released Monday.

The Furman men held steady in seventh place for the third-consecutive week, matching the best ranking in program history.  The Paladins won the 2017 NCAA Southeast Region Championship on Saturday in Charlottesville, Va., the first region championship in the history of the Furman program.  The Paladins scored 55 points to finish first out of 32 teams.  Junior Aaron Templeton paced the Paladins on the 10K course with a time of 29:05.4 to finish fifth and earn a spot on the all-region team.  Furman placed a total of six runners on the all-region team.

The Paladin women moved up one spot from 12th to 11th this week after placing second out of 37 teams at the Southeast Region Championships, also the highest finish in the history of the program.  Furman placed four women on the all-region team, including senior Allie Buchalski, who led the Paladins with a second-place finish after posting a time of 20:10.4 on the 6K course.

Furman will compete at the NCAA Championships Saturday in Louisville, Ky.
