Six Paladins Garner All-Academic Honors; Furman Cross Country Teams Earn All-Academic Status

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Six Paladin athletes garnered individual All-Academic honors, while the Paladin women's and men's cross country programs earned 2017 Division I All-Academic Team status as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).  

Individual athletes must  have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or greater and must have finished among the top 25 finishers in their regional meet.  Seniors Allie Buchalski, Frank Lara, and Josh Brickell, and sophomores Savannah Carnahan, Emma Grace Hurley and Mason Coppi earned All-Academic individual honors.  

To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five regional at their respective NCAA regional championship.  The Paladin men's team posted a cumulative team GPA of 3.09, while the women recorded a cumulative GPA of 3.43.

"Our entire program is very proud of these academic awards," said Furman head coach Robert Gary.  "We are the only sport in-season year-round, and these awards illustrate our Furman individuals and teams that represent all that the student-athlete is asked to accomplish."
