Paladins Compete At Raleigh Relays & Terrier Relays

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman outdoor track and field team competed at both the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C., and the Terrier Relays in Spartanburg, S.C., on Saturday, with eight individuals and two relay teams recording top-20 finishes.

In Raleigh, freshman Emma Kuntz placed 13th in the 800m with a time of 2:12.30, while the Paladin 4x800m relay team of Becca Cooley, Jacquelyn Crow, Kuntz, and Emily Lane finished sixth at 9:07.40.

At the Terrier Relays, senior Shannon Smith recorded a mark of 32.12, taking ninth place in the javelin, while sophomore Reagan Chewning was 11th in the even at 30.36.

On the men's side, sophomore Thomas Moore was one of three Paladins to finish among the top-17, pacing Furman with a time of 4:03.42 for seventh place.  Sophomore Madison Daniel was seventh at 4:03.42, and senior Hayden Cox took 17th place with a time of 4:12.78.  The Furman 4x800m relay team of Cox, Daniel, Quintin McKinnish, and Moore took fifth at 8:10.05.

In the field events, senior Austin Chewning placed 11th with a high jump of 1.75, and junior Chad Word notched a long jump of 6.07 for 19th place.

Furman will compete at the Western Carolina Invitational April 13-14 in Cullowhee, N.C.
