EUGENE, Ore. -- Freshman Emma Kuntz broke the Paladin record in the women's 800m to lead the Paladin track and field teams Friday night at the Oregon Twilight meet in Eugene, Ore.
Kuntz took almost two seconds off the previous record, posting a time of 2:09.91 for fourth place, The former record of 2:11.24 was set by McKenzie Sharpe in 2006.
The Paladins also had runners competing in both the men's and women's 1,500m. Sophomore Emma Grace Hurley turned in a personal-best time of 4:24.27 for eighth place, and freshman Krissy Gear placed 10th with a time of 4:26.27, also a personal-best. Sophomore Riley Burr took 15th place at 4:37.40.
On the men's side, senior Aaron Templeton posted a personal-best time of 3:48.23 for 19th place, and sophomore Mason Coppi scored a personal-best time of 3:50.45 for 25th place. Sophomore Jake Ogden took 30th place at 3:53.06.
Furman will compete at the Southern Conference Championships May 10-11 in Cullowhee, N.C.
