Furman's Savannah Carnahan Named SoCon Student-Athlete Of The Week

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman junior Savannah Carnahan has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Nov. 14-20.

Carnahan earned All-America honors at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships on Saturday, finishing 20th overall in a time of 20:19.14 on the 6K course and helping the 15th-ranked Paladins to a 23rd-place team finish in Madison, Wis.

The Cumming, Ga., native is double majoring in applied mathematics and chemistry and holds a 3.92 grade-point average.  In October, she won the SoCon Pinnacle Award for having the highest GPA on the winning team at the SoCon Cross Country Championship for the second straight season.

Also nominated for SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week: JJ Jerman (ETSU football), Shannon Titus (Mercer women's basketball) and Bryce Nunnelly (Chattanooga football).
