STANFORD, Calif. -- Sophomore Emma Kuntz established a new program record in the women's 800m, while senior Aaron Templeton obliterated the men's 5,000m record to lead the Furman track and field teams Friday at the Cardinal Classic in Stanford, Calif.

Kuntz crossed the line in 2:06.91, taking third in her heat and seventh overall and breaking her own previous school record of 2:08.96, which she set last outdoor season.

In the men's 5,000m, Templeton finished seventh with a time of 13:39.39, shattering the previous record of 13:59.86, set by Troy Reeder in 2016.  Junior Mason Coppi and sophomore Daniel Bernal both notched personal best times in the event.  Coppi placed sixth in his heat and 20th overall with a time of 14:02.93, taking eight seconds off his previous personal best, and Bernal notched a time of 14:14.36, two seconds off his best time.  Bernal finished 13th in his heat and 30th overall.  Senior Frank Lara placed 17th in his heat and 28th overall at 14:11.61.
