GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman 2012 baseball signee Skye Overton has been named a 2013 Louisville Slugger Pre-Season High School All-American, it has been announced.
Overton, a 5-11, 180-pound senior outfielder at 6A Johns Creek (Ga.) High School, was among 108 players named to the first team All-America squad, which was selected by the staff of Collegiate Baseball Newspaper for the 17th straight year. Prep teammate, right-handed pitcher Brandon Gold, a Georgia Tech signee, joined Overton on the squad.
A two-sport standout in baseball and football (quarterback), Overton led Johns Creek in batting average, runs, on-base percentage, and stolen bases in 2012 en route to earning region player of the year honors. His strong play helped key Johns Creek to a region championship and state Final Four appearance. Last summer he played with the East Cobb Braves 17u squad.
Overton was among nine players to sign national letters of intent with Furman in November.
