Former Paladin Amu Saaka Joins France’s Saint-Quentin

Greenville, S.C. -- Former Furman basketball standout Amu Saaka has signed a one year contract for the 2012-13 season with French Pro-B team Saint Quentin, it was announced this week.

Saaka, a native of Decatur, Ga., fashioned a solid rookie season for Landstede Basketball Zwolle of the Dutch Eredivisie.  He was selected to the Eredivisie All-Star Game and averaged 11.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game during his first professional campaign while helping Landstede to playoff and cup semifinals.

The 6-foot-6 forward helped Furman to its first 20-win season in two decades and its second highest win total in school history while earning first team All-Southern Conference honors from both the league's head coaches and media during the 2010-11 season.  A 2011 National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District pick, he led the Paladins averaging 15.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while ranking among the top seven players in the league in both categories.
