Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's basketball team plays its final home game of 2012 on Sunday when it hosts the Big South Conference's Presbyterian College Blue Hose on YP.com Court at Timmons Arena. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
Sunday's game will mark the first action for the Paladins since suffering a 77-50 loss at Loyola in Chicago, Ill., on December 1. Tied 29-29 early in the second half, the Ramblers reeled off 20 straight points as part of a 33-5 run to finish off Furman and send the Paladins to 2-5 on the season. Devon Turk, who buried five second half threes, netted a game-high 19 points for Loyola while Charlie Reddick paced Furman with 12 points. Freshmen Larry Wideman and Kendrec Ferrara added 11 and 10 points, respectively, for the Paladins.
Furman enters Sunday's 72nd meeting against Presbyterian with a 55-16 series advantage, but the Blue Hose scored a 75-71 victory over the Paladins in Clinton, S.C., in the last meeting between the schools on December 20, 2011. The loss to PC was Furman's first since the 1988-89 campaign and snapped a four-game winning streak against its instate rivals.
Presbyterian snapped a season opening six-game losing streak with a 97-38 triumph over Toccoa Falls on November 27. Khalid Mutakabbir leads the Blue Hose averaging 13.1 points and 4.0 assists per game.
