Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's basketball team caps its non-conference schedule on Sunday when it travels to Dallas, Texas, to face the SMU Mustangs. Tip-off at Moody Coliseum is set for 5 p.m. ET.
Furman (3-8) enters its final game of 2012 looking to snap a three-game skid and pick up its fourth win of the season after converting just two field goal attempts over the final 11 minutes of the second half in a 65-53 loss to Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Fla., on December 22. Freshman Stephen Croone paced the Paladins with 11 points, but Furman managed to shoot just 33.9% from the field and connect on only 6-of-24 three-point attempts as they slipped to 0-5 on the road this season.
Senior Colin Reddick continues to lead Furman averaging 10.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game while shooting 53% from the floor. Twin brother Charlie Reddick has contributed 8.3 points and 5.4 boards per contest. Croone, who has started at point guard in 10 of Furman's 11 games, has added 8.7 points and ranks second in the Southern Conference averaging 4.2 assists per game.
Sunday's game marks the first meeting between the Paladins and Mustangs on the hardwood and Furman's first trip to the Lone Star State since suffering a 77-65 defeat at Rice on November 24, 2009.
SMU improved to 9-4 with a 67-52 victory over Alcorn State at the Cable Car Classic in Santa Clara, Calif., in its last outing on December 22. Head coach Larry Brown's squad is led by 6-foot-6 Jalen Jones who averages 15.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.
Sunday's game will be aired live on 103.3 WOLT-FM and 96.3 WGOG-FM with Dan Scott providing play-by-play and Jordan Caskey handling color commentator duties.
