Furman, College Of Charleston Battle Saturday On ESPN3

Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's basketball team returns to Southern Conference play and caps a five-game road trip when it travels to Charleston, S.C., to face the College of Charleston Cougars on Saturday.  Tip-off at TD Arena is set for 5 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on ESPN3.com.

Furman enters Saturday's game at 3-9 after suffering a 72-53 loss to the SMU Mustangs at Moody Coliseum in Dallas, Texas, on Sunday afternoon.  Senior Bryant Irwin buried five three-pointers and scored a team-high 15 points, but the Paladins were unable to overcome a 28.1% shooting night from the floor and career-high 20 points from SMU's Brian Bernardi.

The Paladins, who are 0-1 in SoCon play having lost 79-65 to Western Carolina at Timmons Arena on November 28, are led in scoring and rebounding by senior Colin Reddick averaging 10.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest.  He has shot a team-best 51.6% from the field and blocked a team-high 13 shots this season to move into seventh on the Paladins' career blocks ledger.

Saturday's game marks the 80th all-time meeting between Furman and College of Charleston with the Paladins holding a 41-38 series advantage.  Furman snapped a nine-game skid against Charleston and claimed its first win on CofC's home floor since the 1952-53 season with a 69-63 triumph in the last series meeting on January 26, 2012.  Brandon Sebirumbi paced the Paladins with 15 points while Bryant Irwin and Charlie Reddick added 14 and 12 points, respectively.

College of Charleston, winners of four straight games, enters the first of two meetings against the Paladins this season with a 9-4 overall record and 1-0 SoCon mark.  Guard Andrew Lawrence, the SoCon Player of the Week, has led the Cougars averaging 14 points and four assists per game.

Saturday's game will be aired live on 103.3 WOLT-FM and 96.3 WGOG-FM with Dan Scott providing play-by-play and Ron Smith handling color commentator duties.
