Simpson Shoots UNCG Past Furman, 88-65
Greenville, S.C. – Trevis Simpson, the Southern Conference's leading scorer, poured in a game-high 29 points to guide UNCG to an 88-65 victory over Furman in men's basketball action Thursday evening on YP.com Court at Timmons Arena.
Simpson connected on 10-of-18 field goal attempts, including 3-of-6 from three-point range, and UNCG (7-15, 5-6 SoCon) shot 60% from the field on 9-of-15 shooting from beyond the arc to earn a regular season split with the Paladins (6-15, 3-7 SoCon).
The Spartans built a 48-26 halftime lead by converting on 20-of-33 first half shots, including 8-of-12 three-point attempts. Furman, just 3-for-21 from three-point range on the night, made only 1-of-9 long range attempts in the opening 20 minutes and shot just 35.6% for the game.
Kayel Locke, Nicholas Paulos and Derrell Armstrong joined Simpson in double figures with each tallying 11 points. UNCG outscored the Paladins 38-20 in the paint and held a 42-29 edge in rebounding.
Furman caps its four-game homestand on Saturday when it hosts SoCon North Division leading Elon at 4 p.m.

The All-Inclusive Ticket, "IT", costs $12 for a lower level reserved seat and $8 for an upper level general admission seat.
