Furman Rolls Past Piedmont International, 99-38

Greenville, S.C. -- Freshman Andrew Brown poured in a career-high 21 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds to propel Furman to a 99-38 victory over NCCAA member Piedmont International in non-conference men's basketball action on Tuesday evening at Timmons Arena.

Brown connected on 8-of-11 shots, including 5-of-6 beyond the arc, in 23 minutes of action off of the bench, while junior Kris Acox and senior Stephen Croone chipped in with 15 points apiece. Senior Kendrec Ferrara rounded out the Paladins double figure scorers with 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Larry Wideman added eight points and eight rebounds.

The Paladins (4-3), who shot a season-best 54.2% from the field, raced out to a 44-16 halftime lead behind seven first-half three-pointers and shot 60.5% over the final 20 minutes to extend their lead to as many as 64 points.

Furman outscored the Bruins 51-16 in the paint and posted a commanding 56-25 rebounding edge that led to 27 second chance points for the home team.  The Paladins' 56 rebounds were the most for the program in the last decade.

Malik Milton led the Bruins with nine points on 3-for-17 shooting from the floor. Justin Valentine added eight points.

Furman returns to action next Tuesday, December 8, at 7 p.m. when it hosts the Big South's Liberty Flames. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.
