Furman Downs Bob Jones In Men’s Basketball Exhibition, 101-72

Greenville, S.C. -- Junior Devin Sibley poured in 23 points to lead five Paladins in double figures as Furman rolled to a 101-72 victory over the Bob Jones Bruins in exhibition basketball action on Wednesday evening at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

The Paladins played turnover-free basketball in the first half and shot 58.8% from the field in the opening 20 minutes to build a 55-37 halftime advantage. Sibley connected on 9-of-13 shots to score his 23 points in 25 minutes of action, while senior Kris Acox posted a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Junior Daniel Fowler contributed 16 points, six rebounds and four assists and redshirt freshman Jalen Williams converted on all six of his free throw attempts to total 12 points to go with seven rebounds. Sophomore Andrew Brown rounded out Furman's double figure scorers with 11 points.

The Paladins dominated in the paint, outscoring the Bruins 60-18 inside, and managed a 28-6 edge in points off turnovers. Head coach Niko Medved's squad did not commit their first turnover until more than five minutes into the second half and finished with just six turnovers.

Furman shot 49.3% from the field and made good on 22-of-29 trips to the foul line, while dishing out 19 assists. Bob Jones shot 42.9%, including a 10-for-27 effort from three-point range. The Paladins claimed a 46-33 rebounding advantage.

Marshall Riddle connected on 6-of-15 three-point attempts, including five in the first half, to tally a game-high 28 points. Dustin Killough came off the bench to add 21 points.

Furman, Greenville and the Southern Conference will play host to the 2017 NCAA Tournament First/Second Round at Bon Secours Wellness Arena on March 17 & 19, and Furman's exhibition contest versus Bob Jones was part of the NCAA's official site visit to the facility in advance of the tournament.

Furman opens the 2016-17 regular season on November 11, at Presbyterian. The regular season home opener versus Trinity Baptist is set for Saturday, November 19, at 4 p.m. and will be streamed live on ESPN3.
