Furman Men’s Basketball Hosts Elon, Unveils Championship Banner On Tuesday Night

Greenville, S.C. -- The Furman men's basketball team will face an early season test when it hosts former Southern Conference foe Elon on Tuesday night at Timmons Arena.

Tip-off between the Paladins and Phoenix is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app. The audio broadcast will be available on FoxSports 1440AM, via the TuneIn Radio app and through Stretch Audio at Live statistics will also be provided through StatBroadcast and the link will be posted on the school's official website.

Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets online at or at the Timmons Arena Box Office to come celebrate with the Paladins as they raise their 2016-17 SoCon Regular Season Championship banner on Tuesday. Furman fashioned a 23-12 overall record and 14-4 league mark a year ago to earn a share of its first league title since 1991.

The Paladins enter the contest at 1-0 following a 101-48 victory over Bob Jones on Friday night in the season opener. Senior Devin Sibley scored 23 points on 8-for-11 shooting to pace six Paladins in double figures while forward Matt Rafferty added a career-best 16 rebounds in the triumph.

Elon dropped a 97-68 decision at top-ranked Duke on Friday night in its season opener before topping William Peace, 96-53, in Elon, N.C., on Saturday. The Phoenix, who were picked to finish third in the CAA, return all five starters from a 2016-17 squad that posted an 18-14 mark.

Tuesday's game marks the 16th meeting between the Paladins and Phoenix with Elon holding an 11-4 series advantage. The Phoenix have won four straight meetings, including a 78-49 decision at Timmons Arena in the last encounter on February 24, 2014.
