No. 1 Duke Powers Past Paladins, 92-63

Durham, N.C. -- Top-ranked Duke finished the first half on a 34-12 run to take a 49-31 halftime lead en route to claiming a 92-63 victory over the Furman Paladins in the PK80: Phil Knight Invitational on Monday night at Cameron  Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C.

Furman (2-2) jumped out to an early 13-8 lead and led 16-15 with under 12 minutes to play in the opening half before Duke (5-0) embarked on a 14-2 run to take control at 29-18. The Blue Devils shot 58.3% from the floor in the first half and held Furman to just 2-of-11 shooting from three-point range in the period to build their 18-point halftime lead.

Duke finished the game shooting 60.9% from the floor and outscoring the Paladins 64-28 in the paint. Freshman Marvin Bagley III led Duke with 24 points and eight rebounds, while Trevon Duval scored 18 points and Wendell Carter Jr. finished with 14 points and nine boards.

John Davis III paced the Paladins with 15 points on 6-of-13 shooting and contributed six assists. Junior Matt Rafferty netted 11 points to go with six rebounds, while senior Devin Sibley totaled 10 points.

The Paladins shot just 39.1% from the field and converted on only 9-of-29 three-point tries. Furman was out-rebounded 40-27, but pulled down 13 offensive boards against the much taller Blue Devils.
