Greenville, S.C. - The Furman men's basketball team will travel to Statesboro, Ga., to face the Georgia Southern Eagles in a Southern Conference South Division clash Saturday evening at Hanner Fieldhouse. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Furman (3-16, 2-7) enters Saturday's game having lost four of its last contests, including an 84-66 setback on Thursday night against Appalachian State. Connor Nolte posted career-highs with 15 points and eight rebounds, but Appalachian State's Jeremy Clayton led the Mountaineers' dominate inside game with 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Georgia Southern (12-6, 5-3) has lost two straight after suffering its first home loss of the season on Thursday to Wofford 86-79. The Eagles were unable to hold onto a halftime lead despite 26 points and seven rebounds from forward Louis Graham.
Georgia Southern holds a 19-18 edge in the all-time series with Furman and downed the Paladins 68-63 at Timmons Arena on November 23. Graham notched a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds and Julian Allen added 17 points in the SoCon opener. Bobby Austin led Furman with 15 points. The Paladins have dropped four straight to Georgia Southern.
Furman returns home on Wednesday to host The Citadel in a 7 p.m. contest at Timmons Arena.
