Greenville, S.C. - The Furman men's basketball tries for a regular season sweep of The Citadel when it travels to McAlister Fieldhouse for a 7:05 p.m. tip-off Thursday against the Bulldogs in the 188th meeting between the schools on the hardwood.
The Paladins prevailed over their instate rivals 53-51 at Timmons Arena last month as Alex Opacic scored a career-high 21 points. Furman overcame a 9-0 deficit to start the game and survived a late Bulldog rally to score its third league win of the season.
Furman and The Citadel rank as two of the youngest teams in the nation. The Bulldogs have 13 freshmen on their roster and often feature five freshmen in the starting lineup. Furman has seven freshmen on the team and five that see significant playing time in the Paladins' normal rotation.
The Paladins close out the regular season on Saturday when they visit the College of Charleston for a 6 p.m. contest at John Kresse Arena. The game will be televised live on CSS.
