GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman's Nov. 17 home football game against arch-rival The Citadel has been added to the Southern Conference's broadcast schedule and will be available on ESPN3, the league announced today.
The game is the second of two Wild Card selections for the league's 2012 football broadcast package. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. at Paladin Stadium.
This year's Furman-Citadel matchup will mark the 92nd meeting between the Paladins and Bulldogs in the longest running active Southern Conference football rivalry, which Furman leads 57-31-3. The two schools first met on the gridiron in 1913 and have squared off every year since 1919, excluding a three-year break (1943-45) due to World War II. Furman and Citadel both joined the SoCon in 1936.
The Paladins are 13-4 versus the Bulldogs since 1995 and have won the last two meetings, including a 16-6 verdict last year in Charleston.
Idle this coming Saturday following a 31-17 win over Elon on Oct. 27, Furman will return to action at Appalachian State on Nov. 10.
