GREENVILLE, S.C. -- New Furman head football coach Clay Hendrix will welcome 95 players to campus Monday in preparation for the Paladins' preseason camp, which commences Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Bob King Practice Field Complex.

The Paladins, who are scheduled to report from 1:00-4:00 p.m. prior to the squad's 6:30 p.m. team meeting, will practice in shorts and helmets on Tuesday and Wednesday, add shoulder pads for Thursday's and Friday's sessions, and go to full pads beginning with Saturday's practice.

Furman, which returns 12 starters, kicks off the 2017 campaign on Sept. 2 at league foe Wofford.

Among the Paladins' key returnees on offense are quarterback P.J. Blazejowski (13 career starts, 2,481 passing yds., 14 TDs), 2016 All-SoCon center Matthew Schmidt (26 career starts), guard Terrell Bush (18 career starts), preseason All-SoCon running back Antonio Wilcox (963 career rushing yards, 7 TDs), and wide receiver Logan McCarter (15 career starts, 61 receptions, 875 yards, 3 TDs).

Furman's defense is headlined by preseason All-SoCon nose guard Jaylan Reid (17 career starts, 52 tackles), defensive end Chinedu Okonya (38 tackles, 2 sacks in '16), outside linebacker Joe Farrar (51 tackles in '16), and safety Aaquil Annoor (62 tackles, 7 PBUs, in '16), a preseason All-SoCon choice.

Jon Croft Hollingsworth returns as the Paladins' kicker and punter, having converted 25-of-44 field goals and averaged 39.5 yards on 178 punts in his three-year Furman career.

The 95 players set to report represent the NCAA allowed limit for the preseason.  Furman's squad features 11 seniors, 16 juniors, 19 sophomores, and 49 freshmen.

Furman's Mast General Store-Ingles FanFest is set for Saturday, Aug. 19 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Fluor Field in downtown Greenville.

The Paladins are under the direction of Hendrix, who assumed the program's reins in late December following 10 years as an assistant coach at Air Force. Prior to his stint with the Falcons, he spent 19 years at Furman (1988-06), playing a key role in one of the greatest eras in program history.  The Commerce, Ga., native was a standout offensive guard for the Paladins (1982-85) and part of three SoCon championship teams.

Times of all Furman practices are subject to change due to weather and other considerations.
