GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman Paladins will step up their preseason preparation intensity on Saturday when the squad puts on full pads for the first time for a 9:45 practice at the Bob King Football Practice Complex.

"I told our guys that I don't know if a whole lot is going to change for us other than tackling, which we won't do tomorrow, but we should be pretty full-go," said new head coach Clay Hendrix following Friday morning's two-hour practice session. "Our guys have done a good job of trying to stay off the ground, which is something we impress upon them.  It's practicing, going hard, and competing, yet taking care of each other."

Friday's workout was the fourth of preseason for the Paladins, who reported to camp on Monday and have practiced twice in helmets and shorts and twice in helmets, shoulder pads, and shorts leading up to Saturday's first session in full gear.

"I've been pleased with how hard we've been going.  We've got to raise our level of execution.  We're four days in now and  everybody's a little bit sore. I'm pleased where we are, but we've got a way to go."

As expected senior P.J. High School.  He is the nephew of former Pittsburgh Steeler and Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive back Mel Blount.

Furman's Mast General Store-Ingles FanFest is set for Saturday, Aug. 19 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Fluor Field in downtown Greenville.
