GREENVILLE, S.C -- The College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) has named Furman quarterback P.J. Blazejowski as its National Performer of the Week, it was announced Sunday morning.
Blazejowski, a senior from St. Augustine, Fla., completed 17 of 22 pass attempts for 301 yards and three touchdowns in the Paladins' 56-35 Southern Conference victory over East Tennessee State on Saturday. His three scoring strikes covered 32, 30, and 64 yards, and he did not attempt a pass in the fourth quarter after his 64-yard hook-up with Logan McCarter with five minutes remaining in the third quarter gave Furman a 42-17 lead.
The Paladin signal caller, who entered the contest as the Football Championship Subdivision leader in passing yards per attempt (10.71), upped that number to 11.39 yards per attempt with his performance against ETSU. The SoCon passing efficiency frontrunner who ranks fourth nationally (178.4 rating), Blazejowski has completed 57 of 96 passes for 1,094 yards and eight touchdowns on the season.
Winners of two straight, Furman (2-3, 1-1 SoCon) plays at Chattanooga next Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
