GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman kicks off its 2008 season this Saturday when it entertains Mars Hill at Paladin Stadium in a 7:05 p.m. game that will be televised by Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast.
Furman is coming off a 2007 campaign that saw it post a 6-5 overall record and 4-3 Southern Conference mark, good for third place in league play. Mars Hill, meanwhile, went 5-5 a year ago and finished sixth in the NCAA Division II South Atlantic Conference with a 1-6 league slate.
The Paladins were a consensus fifth place pick in a pair of SoCon preseason polls conducted by league coaches and media. The Lions were picked to finish sixth in a preseason poll of SAC head coaches.
