CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa. -- Sophomore Keller Harper (+5) and senior Hunter Nichols (+5) tied for 30th to lead the Furman men's golf team Tuesday in the final day of the Golfweek Conference Challenge at the par 72, 7,112 yard Cedar Rapids Country Club in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  

Harper recorded three birdies on the front to make the turn at one-under then added a birdie on No. 17 for a team-high four birdies, shooting a 74 in the final round.  Nichols, who carded a 75 on Tuesday, added three birdies in round three.  

Paladin junior Connor Bruns (+7) tied for 36th after scoring a 74 with birdies on No. 9 and No. 18 in the last day of play, and sophomore Jake Reilly (+9) tied for 51st after firing an even 72 with three birdies to top the Paladin leader board on Tuesday.  Sophomore Scott Purvis (+15) birdied No. 6 and No. 8 and tied for 68th after adding a final-round 78.

North Carolina State (-17) won the tournament by two strokes over Iowa (-15).  UNC Wilmington (-7) was third (-7), followed by San Francisco (-2) in fourth.  The Paladins (+23) finished in 13th place.  N.C. State's Benjamin Shipp (-10) won individual medalist honors with a three-day total of 68-69-69=206.

Furman will compete at the Firestone Invitational in Akron, Ohio, October 2-3.
