Harper Leads Furman To Seventh-Place Finish At Camden Collegiate Invitational

CAMDEN, S.C. -- Sophomore Keller Harper (+6) tied for 21st to lead the Furman men's golf team to a seventh-place finish Sunday at the Camden Collegiate Invitational at the par 70, 6,455 yard Camden Country Club in Camden, S.C.

Harper, a native of Atlanta, Ga., carded a 74 with a birdie on No. 7 to pace the Paladins in the final round, while junior Connor Bruns (+7) finished just one stroke back after scoring a 75 with a birdie on No. 18 on Sunday to tie for 24th.  Sophomore Matt Lehman (+10) tied for 37th after also recording a 75 with birdies on No. 5 and No. 13 in the final round, and sophomore Jake Reilly (+13) added a 77 with birdies on No. 5 and No. 7 to tie for 48th.  Sophomore Scott Purvis (+17) concluded the tournament in a tie for 67th after carding a 77 with a birdie on No. 7 on Sunday.  

Host South Carolina (+1) won the tournament by 12 strokes over James Madison (+13).  USC Aiken (+16) was third, followed by Elon (+18) in fourth.  Francis Marion (+22) completed the top five, while Presbyterian (+31) finished in sixth place.  The Paladins (+35) placed seventh out of 17 teams at the tournament.  George Washington's Logan Lowe won individual medalist honors with a three-round total of 68-70-68=206.

Sunday's round marked the end of the 2017 fall season for the Paladins.  Furman will open the 2018 spring season Feb. 26-27 at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C.
