Harper Ties For Fifth To Pace Paladins At Clemson Invitational

SALEM, S.C. -- Sophomore Keller Harper (+1) tied for fifth to pace the Furman men's golf team Saturday in the final round of the Clemson Invitational at the par 72, 7,103 yard Cliffs at Keowee Falls Golf Course in Salem, S.C.   

Harper, a native of Atlanta, Ga., scored a 73 with three birdies in Saturday's round to finish the day seven strokes back of Christian Cavaliere (-6) of Boston College, who earned individual medalist honors with a three-round total of 68-71-71=210. 

Junior Connor Bruns (+11) and sophomore Scott Purvis (+11) tied for 31st.  Bruns carded a 73 with a team-high four birdies, including three birdies from No. 14 through No. 17, on Saturday, while Purvis added a 74 with three birdies in round three.  

Sophomore Matt Lehman (+14) finished in a tie for 41st after recording a 74 with birdies on No. 10 an No. 18 on Saturday, while senior Hunter Nichols (+21) scored an 84 in the final round to tie for 54th.

Boston College (+2) won the tournament by two strokes over 15th-ranked Clemson (+4).  Notre Dame (+8) finished third, followed by UConn (+19) in fourth, and SMU (+20) in fifth.  UNC Wilmington (+28) took sixth place, and the Paladins (+32) placed seventh.

Furman will compete at the Southern Conference Championship in Pinehurst, N.C., April 22-24.
