GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman junior Keller Harper will begin competition Monday at the NCAA Men's Golf Athens Regional, which will be held May 13-15, at the par 71, 7,253 yard University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga.
Harper, who was voted the Southern Conference Men's Golf Player of the Year for the second-consecutive season, will tee off of No. 1 at 1:23 p.m. and will play in a group with Sam Clayman of Princeton and Jacksonville's Billy Eduardo Carrete.
A native of Atlanta, Ga., Harper, who was named to the All-Southern Conference team for the second-straight year, led the league and the Paladins with a 71.22 stroke average over 33 rounds this season. He won individual medalist honors at both the River Run Collegiate in the fall and at the Furman Invitational in March. In 11 events this season, he recorded four top-5 finishes and six top-10 finishes.
The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each of the six regionals will advance to the NCAA Championships, which will be held May 24-29, at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Teams competing in the Athens Regional include Vanderbilt, Duke, Georgia, Liberty, Alabama, Tennessee, Campbell, Kentucky, Nevada, SMU, Memphis, UNC Wilmington, and Princeton.
Roland Massimino (Kansas State), Jacob Eklund (Kansas State), Eduardo Carrete (Jacksonville), Jeremy Gandon (Kansas State), Billy Tom Sargent (Western Kentucky), Logan Sowell (College of Charleston), John Gough (Charlotte), Jordan Warnock (USC Upstate), and Will Halamandaris (Lafayette) join Harper in competing as individuals.
