Bruns Honored As ScanSource Student-Athlete Leader Of The Month

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman men's golfer Connor Bruns has been named the ScanSource Student-Athlete Leader of the Month for April.  He will be honored at Furman's baseball game versus Mercer on May 16.

A senior from Duncan, S.C., Bruns holds a 3.58 GPA in pre-engineering at Furman and is currently completing a dual degree in engineering at Clemson.  He is a member of the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll and the SoCon Academic All-Conference Team and has been named to the Dean's List at Furman.  Bruns is a volunteer at the Greenville Children's Hospital and represents his team on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

An All-Southern Conference selection as a junior, Bruns notched four top-20 finishes and placed among the top 10 at two events in 2017-18.  As a senior, he appeared in all 32 rounds for the Paladins and recorded a 73.1 stroke average.  He also recorded four top-20 finishes this season, including a career-best third-place finish at the River Run Collegiate in September.  Bruns, who matched his career low with a 68 in the opening round of the River Run Collegiate, tied for 15th at the Camden Collegiate Invitational.  After tying for ninth at the Furman Collegiate, he went on to finish in a tie for 19th at the Southern Conference Championships.

The ScanSource Student-Athlete Leader of the Month award was created to honor Furman student-athletes who excel in the classroom, on the field and in the community.
