    Furman captured its third-straight straight Germann Cup and finished third in the Commissioner’s Cup standings, it was announced on Tuesday by the Southern Conference at its annual league meetings in Hilton Head, S.C.  The Germann Cup and Commissioner’s Cup are awarded annually to the Southern Conference schools fielding the league’s best all-around women’s and men’s sports programs, respectively.

    Richmond, Va. – Behind a seven-goal fourth quarter, Richmond downed Furman, 16-8, in the first round of the 2018 SoCon Championship inside Robbins Stadium on Richmond’s campus. The win moves the Spiders into the SoCon Championship game on Saturday, while the loss ends the Paladins’ season at 4-10.

    Louisville, Ky. – After allowing a Bellarmine fourth-quarter rally to tie the game, David Williamson netted his fourth goal of the day with three seconds remaining to give Furman the 8-7 victory on Saturday afternoon. The win, coupled with an Air Force loss, clinched the #4 seed for Furman in next week’s SoCon Tournament and moves the Paladins to 4-9, 4-3 in SoCon play, while the loss ends the Knights’ season at 4-9, 2-5 SoCon.

The win moves the Dolphins to 6-6 on the season and 4-2 in SoCon play, while the loss drops the Paladins to 3-9 and 3-3 in SoCon play.
