Paladins’ Zimmerman Named To NSCAA All-American Second Team

Greenville, S.C. – Furman sophomore Walker Zimmerman has been named to the 2012 National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Men's All-America Second Team, it was announced on Friday by the NSCAA.

Zimmerman, a native of Lawrenceville, Ga., tallied six goals and added three assists while helping the Paladins to a 12-4-3 record as a sophomore in 2012.  A third team NSCAA All-American in 2011, the two-time first team All-Southern Conference pick and 2011 SoCon Freshman of the Year netted the game-winning goal in Furman's 2-1 victory over FIU and recorded the game-tying tally as Furman rallied from a 2-0 deficit to down Clemson 3-2 this past season.

The center back helped guide the Paladins to an NCAA Tournament bid as a freshman while establishing himself as a starting center back with the United States U-20 National Team.

A Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Season choice, Zimmerman is expected to enter the MLS SuperDraft in January.
