Greenville, S.C. -- The Furman men's soccer team continued its climb in the national rankings, including coming in at No. 8 in this week's Soccer America Top 25 Poll.

The Paladins, who downed UNC Asheville, 4-0, on Sunday to improve to 5-0-0 on the season, jumped to No. 10 in the Top Drawer Soccer Top 25, No. 13 in the College Soccer News Top 30 and No. 15 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25.

Redshirt-freshman Cole McLagan, who leads the Paladins with three goals on the season, scored twice on Sunday as Furman upped its all-time record versus Asheville to 15-0-3. Goalkeepers Ben Hale and Jonathan Smith combined on the shutout to stretch Furman's run without allowing a goal to 386:19, dating back to Charleston's second half score in a 3-2 Paladin victory in the season opener on August 25.

Furman returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Clinton, S.C., to face the Presbyterian Blue Hose at 1 p.m. at Martin Stadium. After taking on South Carolina in Columbia, S.C., on September 19, the Paladins return home to host Gardner-Webb on Saturday, September 23, at Stone Stadium at 7 p.m.

Tickets for all home matches are $5 and can be purchased at the Stone Stadium gate beginning one hour prior to kickoff or by logging onto FurmanPaladins.com.
