#49 Stanford Blanks Furman, 7-0

STANFORD, CALIF. -- #49 Stanford blanked Furman, 7-0, Thursday in men's tennis action at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium in Stanford, Calif. 

The singles matches were played before doubles due to the threat of inclement weather.  John Morrissey, ranked 45th nationally, posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory over senior Andrew Mellow in the flight one match, and #91 Nolan Paige bested junior Alex Christ, 6-4, 6-4, at number two. 

In the third-seeded match, Maciek Romanowicz defeated junior Joel Cook, 6-2, 6-2, while Robert Stineman recorded a 6-1, 6-0 win versus sophomore Jacob Behal at number four.  Daniel Ho slipped past freshman Matt Browne, 6-4, 7-5, in the flight five match, and Trey Strobel completed the singles sweep with a 6-2, 7-5 win over senior Robbie Aru.

The Cardinal took two out of three of the doubles matches.  Paige and Strobel notched an 8-5 victory versus Browne and Christ at number two.  In the third doubles match-up, Jamin Bell and Anthony Tsodikov defeated Behal and senior Tyler Droll, 8-2.  At number one doubles, Furman's Cook and Mellow bested Denis Lin and John Morrissey, 8-5.

Furman (2-8) returns home to open Southern Conference play versus College of Charleston on March 14.
