Furman Plays Host To Chattanooga Friday

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman men's tennis team will play host to the Chattanooga Mocs Friday at noon at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C. 

The match marks the 42nd meeting between the two schools.  The Paladins defeated the Mocs, 5-2, in Chattanooga last season to take a 30-11 lead in the series.

Furman enters Friday's match with a 3-12 overall record and 0-4 Southern Conference mark.  The Paladins defeated Emory last Friday, 6-1, then fell to Georgia Southern, 4-3, in Statesboro on Tuesday.  Senior Andrew Mellow and sophomore Luke Synn picked up a win at flight three doubles, and freshman Matt Browne, Synn, and senior Tyler Droll were victorious in singles versus the Eagles.

Chattanooga comes to Greenville with a 7-6 overall record and 2-2 league mark.  The Mocs defeated SoCon foes College of Charleston, 4-3, and UNC Greensboro, 6-1 earlier this season.  Last weekend, SoCon leader Elon defeated Chattanooga, 5-2.

Following Friday's match, Furman hits the road for a 1 p.m. match-up at the Citadel on Saturday
