GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman men's tennis team will entertain Davidson Saturday at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C. to close out the regular season. The Paladins will honor seniors Robbie Aru, Tyler Droll, and Andrew Mellow in their final home match of their career.
"This is a big match for us, since it's the last regular season match for these seniors," said Furman head coach Kelly Jones. "It's hard to replace these kinds of student athletes and what they bring to the team. It will be sad to see them go. Hopefully we will come out with a win and they can leave on a really good note."
Furman enters Saturday's match with an 8-12 overall record and 5-4 Southern Conference mark. The Paladins extended their winning streak to five matches with a 4-3 victory over Wofford on Wednesday.
Davidson comes to Greenville with a 10-8 overall record and 4-5 league mark. The Wildcats dropped a 5-2 match to UNC Greensboro on Sunday.
Saturday's match marks the 46th meeting between the two schools. The Paladins won last season's match, 5-2, in Davidson to take a 39-6 lead in the all-time series.
Furman has been very successful on its home court. Over the past eleven seasons the Paladins have lost only 20 matches on their home court, posting an impressive record of 90-20 since 2002.
