GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman University will celebrate its intercollegiate athletics program on Saturday, April 5, with a Spring Athletic Festival featuring competition by five Paladin teams and a full day of activities for fans on one of the nation's most beautiful campuses.
Sponsored by the Furman Alumni Association, Athletics Department, and Paladin Club, the event will offer fans admission to all athletic events on campus that day, a barbecue tailgate dinner, yard games, and activities for kids, including a bounce house and 18-foot slide, plus prizes and giveaways at every sports event.
Registration begins at 11:00 a.m. on the Bob King Football Practice Field located behind the Lay Physical Activities Center. Parking is available in the "Green Lot" on the hill by the football practice field.
A full-day pass for $12 (children 10 and under are admitted free) entitles fans to admission to all events and activities, plus dinner, set for 5:30 p.m. on the football practice field.
Athletic competition starts at noon when Furman's men's lacrosse squad entertains Richmond in Paladin Stadium and will also feature a 1:00 p.m. softball doubleheader versus UNCG at Pepsi Stadium and men's tennis match against Elon at Mickel Tennis Center, also at 1:00 p.m. Furman's baseball team battles Davidson at 4:00 p.m. at Latham Stadium, and at 7:00 p.m. Bruce Fowler's reigning Southern Conference championship football squad will hold its annual Purple-White spring scrimmage in Paladin Stadium.
