GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman men's tennis team plays host to The Citadel Bulldogs Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Mickel Tennis Center.
The match marks the 49th meeting between the two schools. The Paladins won last season's meeting, 7-0, in Charleston to take a 46-2 lead in the series.
Furman enters Tuesday's match at 8-7 overall and 2-0 in the Southern Conference after beating UNC Greensboro, 4-3, on Saturday. The Paladins won the doubles point with victories at #1 and #3 then earned singles points from #1 Adam Steryous, #4 Joel Cook, and #6 Ben Horst.
Over the years, Furman has been very successful on its home court. Over the past 12 seasons the Paladins have lost only 21 matches on their home court, posting an impressive record of 95-21 since 2002. Furman boasts a perfect 5-0 record at the Mickel Tennis Center this season.
The Citadel will face Samford in Charleston on Monday before heading to Greenville on Tuesday. The Bulldogs enters the match versus Samford with a 2-20 overall record and 0-3 league mark, after falling to South Carolina, 7-0, on Sunday.
Furman hits the road for a three-match road swing beginning this weekend. The Paladins will play at Samford on Saturday then travel to Chattanooga on Sunday. Furman concludes the road swing at Appalachian State on April 3.
