Furman's Mitric Voted SoCon Player Of The Week

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman's Ivan Mitric has been named the Southern Conference men's tennis player of the week for all matches played Feb. 26-March 4, as announced by the league on Tuesday. Mitric, who sits at 7-3 in singles and 8-3 in doubles on the season, earned a win in each this week. The nod is Mitric's second of the season.

A sophomore from Toronto, Ontario, Mitric, who is ranked 87th in this week's national singles poll, earned a win at flight one singles against Georgia Southern's Antonio Muniz, 7-6 (5), 5-7, 6-1.  In doubles play, he teamed with Jake Munns to sweep the Eagles' top duo, 6-0. 

Mitric and the Paladins return to action on March 16, hosting UNCG in a conference showdown slated for noon.

Also nominated: Yusuf Khamis (ETSU), Olivier Stuart (Mercer) and Tomas Rodriguez (Chattanooga).
