GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman men's tennis player Jake Munns has been named the ScanSource Student-Athlete Leader of the Month for January. He will be honored at Furman's baseball game versus South Carolina at Fluor Field on March 19, along with Lauren Duggar, the February recipient.
A junior from Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, Munns holds a 3.46 GPA and is majoring in accounting. He is a member of both the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll and the ITA All-Academic Team. Munns has volunteer experience with Habitat for Humanity building accessible ramps for homes in the community.
Munns, who holds an 8-3 singles record this season, has teamed with sophomore Ivan Mitric for a perfect 7-0 record at flight one doubles thus far in the 2019 spring season. He was an All-SoCon second team selection for singles as a freshman and garnered all-league first team accolades for doubles as a freshman and sophomore. Munns was also a member of the 2017 SoCon All-Freshman Team.
The ScanSource Student-Athlete Leader of the Month award was created to honor Furman student-athletes who excel in the classroom, on the field and in the community.
