GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman Paladins women's basketball team will take a break from final exams on Sunday to travel to Columbia to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks in a 3:00 p.m. Colonial Center clash that will be televised by SportSouth.

Having lost three straight, including a 65-33 road setback at SoCon foe Samford on Monday in its last outing, Furman (3-4) has struggled offensively of late, shooting just 24.5 percent (40-of-163 FGs) and tallying just 47, 40, and 33 points, respectively, against nationally sixth-ranked Georgia, Chattanooga, and Samford over the three-game stretch.

Furman's rough go has been magnified by the loss of sophomore forward Sarah Durdaller (15.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg) to a broken foot and the limited ability of senior All-SoCon guard/forward Raegan Thompson (2.9 ppg), who has been slowed significantly since the preseason with an ankle condition.

Senior guard Teshia Griswold leads Furman in scoring (16.4 ppg).

The Paladins lost a 72-33 decision to South Carolina last year and, in all, have dropped the last four meetings with the Gamecocks.  Furman registered its lone win in the 12-game series in Greenville during the 1994-95 season with a 101-84 triumph in Columbia.

South Carolina (9-0), coming off a 25-10 campaign a year ago that included a NCAA Sweet 16 appearance, remained perfect on the season with 55-42 road triumph over Seton Hall on Dec. 2.  Head coach Dawn Staley's 2012-13 squad sports impressive balance led by Aleighsa Welch (12.0 ppg), Ashley Bruner (12.0 ppg), and Tiffany Mitchell (10.7 ppg), and features stellar defense (opponent 32.6 FG%) and superb rebounding (+17.4 margin).

In addition to the SportSouth telecast, Sunday's game will be broadcast online by StretchAudio through Furman All-Access at, with Bryant Lambert on the call.  Live stats will be provided through and in-game twitter updates via

Furman will conclude final exams next Wednesday before returning home to entertain Arkansas on Dec. 16 at Timmons Arena.
