STARKVILLE, MISS. -- Teaira McCowan scored 24 points, hitting all 11 shots, and claimed 10 rebounds to power AP nationally sixth-ranked Mississippi State to a 106-41 victory over Furman in women's basketball action Wednesday afternoon at Humphrey Coliseum.

The victory was 24th straight home triumph for the Bulldogs (5-0), who went 37-2 and finished as national runner-up a year ago.

McCowan, a 6-foot-7 center and SEC consensus preseason player of the year, headlined a blistering 62.7 percent shooting effort by Mississippi State, which made 42-of-67 shots, including 12-of-20 from 3-point range.  The Bulldogs entered the game shooting 34.7 percent from behind the arc.

Chloe Bibby followed with 21 points, part of a five-player double figure scoring parade by the Bulldogs.

Junior guard Le'Jzae Davidson was the only the Paladin to tally double figures with 17 points.

Furman (2-3) trailed 16-7 midwy thru the first quarter before MSU took total control with a 30-0 run.  Bibby capped the stretch with a jump shot to give the Bulldogs a 46-7 advantage with just over four minutes to go in the first half.

The Paladins return to action on Saturday with a 2:00 road contest at the College of Charleston.
