Stanford, Calif. – Furman senior Laura Wearn fired her second straight three-over 74 to move up to 34th place on Friday afternoon in the NCAA Women's Golf West Regional at the par-71, 6,267-yard Stanford Golf Course.
After shooting a two-over 38 on the back nine to begin her round, Wearn tallied birdies at the par five No. 1 and No. 7 to card a 36 on the front nine. The Charlotte, N.C., native, who qualified for the NCAA West Regional as an individual, trails tournament leader Annie Park (-4) of Southern California by 10 strokes through 36 holes.
The top eight teams in the regional's 24-team field and top two individuals not on a qualifying team at the NCAA West Regional will advance to the NCAA Championships May 21-24, at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga.
Final round action at the Stanford Golf Course is set to tee off on Saturday morning.
