HANAHAN, S.C. -- Freshman Natalie Srinivasan (-9) fired a 66 to take a share of the individual lead and help Furman (-18) to one-stroke advantage over the field heading into the final round of the Cougar Classic at the par 72, 6,224 yard Yeamans Hall in Hanahan, S.C.
The Paladins, who have recorded 41 birdies over the first two rounds of the tournament, are 21-strokes under par on the par-5 holes over the past two days. Furman, who set the program low round record with a 278 on Sunday, holds a one-stroke lead over North Carolina (-17), while UCF (-9) and Wake Forest (-9) are tied for third. Michigan (-6) and Florida State (-5) complete the top five, and South Carolina (-2) enters Tuesday's final round in seventh place, followed by Auburn (E) in eighth. Louisville (+1) and Arkansas (+5) round out the top 10.
Srinivasan, a native of Spartanburg, S.C., birdied seven of her last ten holes on Monday to finish the round with a 66, just one shot shy of the Paladin low round record. She is tied with Sierra Sims (-9) of Wake Forest for the individual lead with a two-day total of 135.
Sophomore Haylee Harford (-7) carded a 70 with four birdies in the second round to tie for third, while senior Taylor Totland (-3) is tied for 11th after posting an even 72 with four birdies on Monday. Junior Alice Chen (+1) and freshman Carly Burkhardt (+1) are tied for 31st after each posted an even 72 in round two. Burkhardt eagled the par-5 No. 5 and added a birdie on No. 4, and Chen notched five birdies in the round.
The 54-hole tournament will conclude on Tuesday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Admission to the tournament is free and fans are welcome. Live tournament scoring will also be available via www.golfstat.com.
