WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Senior Taylor Totland (-3) fired a 68 on Saturday to move into a tie for fourth and lead the second-ranked Furman women's golf team at the 15th annual Landfall Tradition at the par 72, 6,166 yard Pete Dye Course at The Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.
Totland, a native of Tinton Falls, N.J., recorded six birdies on Saturday, including four in a span of five holes and five total on the back nine, to finish the day two strokes back of Wake Forest's Jennifer Kupocho, the top-ranked player in the nation, who leads the field with a two-day total of 73-66=129.
Freshman Carly Burkhardt (E) enters Sunday's final round tied for 14th after carding a 71 with three birdies on Saturday, and junior Alice Chen (+2) is tied for 24th after also scoring a 71 with three birdies in a four-hole span in round two. Rookie Natalie Srinivasan (+5) scored a 74 with a birdie on No. 12 to tie for 33rd on Saturday, and sophomore Haylee Harford (+8) is tied for 53rd after carding a 77 with two birdies in the second round.
The Paladins (+4) shot a 284 on Saturday to move up two spots and enter Sunday's final round tied with 12th-ranked Purdue for fourth place. No. 13 Wake Forest (-4) surged into the lead, while 19th-ranked South Carolina (+3) and No. 24 Oklahoma (+3) are tied for second. No. 36 N.C. State (+12) is in sixth place, and top-ranked Alabama (+13) and No. 17 UCF (+13) are tied for seventh.
The 54-hole tournament will conclude on Sunday with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start. The Paladins will tee off on holes six through 11 and will play in a group with Purdue and N.C. State.
