EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Sophomore Natalie Srinivasan (-4) tied for third among the individuals to lead the Furman women's golf team (+9) to a fourth-place finish Tuesday in the final day of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate at the par 72, 6,288 yard Olympic Hills Golf Club in Eden Prairie, Minn.
Srinivasan, a native of Spartanburg, S.C., carded a 74 with three birdies in the final round to finish the tournament six strokes back of individual medalist Maria Fassi (-10) of Arkansas, who surged into the lead with a final round 66 for a three-day total of 70-70-66=206.
Senior Reona Hirai (+2) fired a final-round 72 to pace the Paladins on Tuesday. Hirai birdied No. 7 and No. 15 to finish in a tie for 18th, while senior Alice Chen (+7) and junior Haylee Harford (+7) tied for 30th. Harford scored a 74 with three birdies on the front nine in the final round, and Chen added a 76 with three birdies. Senior Jacqueline Bendrick (+16) tied for 46th after recording an 80 with a birdie on No. 14 in the tournament's final day.
Arkansas (-16) never relinquished the lead throughout the tournament, taking a 12-stroke win over UCLA (-4). Stanford (+6) finished third, followed by Furman (+9) and Texas (+9) in a tie for fourth place. South Carolina (+11) placed sixth.
The ANNIKA Intercollegiate, which featured 12 of the top Division I women's programs in the country, was co-founded by Annika Sorenstam's ANNIKA Foundation and Golfweek.
Furman will compete at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas, Oct. 9-10.
